We could tell you that Casa das pedras grandes is a solid and spacious home with masses of comfortable accommodation, bore you with descriptions of the 4 bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, sitting/dining room, summer lounge etc, or extol the virtues of the completely private courtyard & plunge pool. But impossible to describe - the crisp clear mountain air, the whisper of the wind through the surrounding forests, the early morning scent of pine and eucalyptus, the peace. So, come and discover for yourself!
The house offers:
G/F: spacious galleried entrance hall with double doors leading to the kitchen, winter sitting room, family bathroom, master bedroom & courtyard with outside kitchen/BBQ & pool.
1st Floor:
Summer lounge, family suite (coat lobby, double & twin bedroom,ensuite bathroom) double bedroom & bathroom.

Outside:
double garage with ample parking in front. Large walled "garden" -well - a field at the moment! but some lovely views of the surrounding countryside - a great place for late afternoon drinks and to watch the sun go down.
Area:
Serpins is 10 mins drive and has a small grocery/supermarket, garage, train station, taxti. Nearby is a well developed "fluvial" (river beach) sunbeds/bar etc.
The town of Lousã is 20 mins drive and has large selection of shops & supermarkets, local market, castle & fluvial. Porto & Lisbon 2 hours drive.

Stunning scenery, great walks, bike trails, birdwatching, historical monuments - the list is endless. Matas is perfectly placed to access the many wonderful attractions, sports and nature trails with which the Beiras region abounds. Just a short drive will take you through the pine forests to Gois, a typical Portuguese town, offering many facilities, and sports activities. The steep river valleys and wooded hillsides form an ideal terrain for a variety of pastimes, including hill-walking, mountain biking, canoeing and horse riding. the area has an abundance of wildlife, so also has much to offer the artist or photographer. Those of us who may be less energetic can enjoy the river Ceira, which carves its way through the northern half of the region, providing plenty of areas to swim, relax and enjoy the jewel in the crown of central Portugal
