Skagit Bay View:
In scenic Northwest Washington, Cedar Bluff Cottage is located 50 miles north of Seattle in the southwest corner of Skagit County overlooking the magnificent Skagit River Delta. With century-old cedar woodlands as a backdrop, the cottage is situated on a high bluff that enjoys spectacular sunset vistas and a panoramic view over farmlands, Skagit Bay and the islands beyond.
Within easy access to I-5 and just a few miles from restaurants and grocery stores in Stanwood, Conway, or La Conner, Cedar Bluff Cottage is an ideal place for a secluded retreat or weekend get-away. Step back in time and enjoy your stay in an old-fashioned country cottage with every modern convenience.
The Cottage:
Our 100-year-old Craftsman style cottage has been completely restored and updated with careful attention given to maintaining its special vintage charm and appeal. The cottage, having 3 bedrooms and one and a half bathrooms, sleeps up to 6 people.
Kitchen:
Two 6-foot windows frame the dramatic westerly view from the kitchen/dining area. This country-style room has been fitted with new custom cabinetry and appliances including refrigerator, range, dishwasher, microwave and toaster. A drip coffee maker, filters and coffee & tea are provided for the first two mornings. For those who enjoy cooking and dining in, the kitchen is well equipped with pots and pans, knives, utensils, glassware, dishes, and silverware. You will find popular herbs and spices, cooking oil, napkins and paper towels. Recycle bins are conveniently located.
Living room:
This casual room seats 6 people comfortably, with a large sofa, two leather chairs, an ottoman and a swivel chair. Ample lighting has been provided for reading, or relaxing while watching the flat screen TV with basic satellite service and a dvd player.
Bedrooms:
All three bedrooms contain distinct period furnishings. To ensure a good night's sleep, top quality brand new queen sized beds are provided in two of the bedrooms with two single beds in the third bedroom. Colorful new comforters, fine linens and a variety of pillow styles grace each bed.
Bathrooms and Laundry:
The immaculate full bathroom with shower/tub is supplied with fresh new towels and a hair dryer. The half bath contains laundry facilities, available for longer stays.
Outdoors:
Those who seek a secluded, restful retreat will enjoy their stay in this unique natural setting where Bald Eagles and Red-tailed Hawks soar along the cliff's edge to the treetops. You may choose to dine outside at the picnic table where an outdoor propane bbq is available, or sit back in one of the comfortable wicker chairs on the porch to savor the quiet solitude of the country.
Exploring the Skagit Valley and nearby areas:
-Walking and bird watching along the Skagit River dike system is available within one mile. Every winter the fields of Fir Island, just 5 miles northwest, become a noisy and spectacular spread of white color from thousands of Snow Geese. Trumpeter and Tundra Swans also migrate here from Alaska.
-In April, you may embark on a driving tour of the fertile Skagit River Valley to view the immense and vivid fields where daffodils and tulips are in bloom. Research the Skagit Tulip Festival for information on the events and maps. While there, enjoy unique shopping or elegant dining in the delightful and historic town of La Conner.
-Southwest of the Cottage, less than 15 miles away on nearby Camano Island is Camano Island State Park.
Extended Day Trips:
For visitors from other states or countries who want to explore the highlights of the Pacific Northwest, Cedar Bluff Cottage is ideally situated to discover the magnificent splendor of this region, whether driving, walking, bicycling, boating or kayaking.
-The San Juan Islands can be reached from the wa state Ferry terminal west of Anacortes, 30 miles from the Cottage. For more information on the San Juan Islands:
-The North Cascades Highway 20 extends eastward through the scenic North -Cascades National Park and Washington Pass, descending the Methow Valley to reach the Western town of Winthrop.
- Mt. Baker Ski Resort is an 82-mile drive northeast.
-Vancouver, Canada is 90 miles north, crossing the US/Canadian Border at Blaine.
