This peaceful cortijo is located in a beautiful green valley where it seems impossible to believe that you are only 15 minutes walk from the bars, shops and restaurants of Valor. The shady terrace offers stunning view accross to Sierra de la Contraviersa and is the perfect place to sit and relax in the sun.
Inside the furnishings are rustic in style but of a very high quality, making for a cosy and welcoming ambience. The wood buning stove ensures that evenings are a pleasure whilst the well equipped kitchen and bathroom provide all that you require.
The area is magical for walkers and mountain bikers alike. A network of paths and tracks strech from outside your front door to the the peaks of the Sierra Nevada and the cooler months are the perfect time to explore them. Alternatively, the lower slopes cater for more gentle rambles with a myriad of flora and fauna to be spotted.
There is always the opportunity to take a more relaxed approach to holidaying, laze on the terrace and enjoy the stunning views or cool down in the splash pool provided for the summer months. Enjoy evening barbeques and gentle strolls or simply explore the fascinating pueblos blancos which make you feel as if you've taken a step back in time, whilst tapas at the local bars whilst watching village life pass you by is a must for all.
Las Alpujarras are the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, the snow melt is chanelled down from the high peaks throughout the year creating an unbelievably lush and beautiful part of Andalucia. Dotted around the valley are some 30 small villages, most with less than 1000 inhabitants, where the pace of life is slow and relaxed.
Valor, the closest village to this cortijo (country house), is one of hese. Despite being smal it offers shops, bars and restaurants and hosts a lively fiesta each September.
Granada is a stunning 2 hour drive over the sierra, making a fascinating day trip. The Cave quarter, Alhambra Palace and old town are all incredibly atmospheric and well worth exploring. Alternatively, the beaches of the Costa Tropical are less than an hours drive away and the beaches here can be tempting at any time of year.
For much of the winter sledging and skiing are available both at the ski resort outside Granada and 45 minutes drive from the property at the top of the Puerta de La Ragua.
For a day to remember why not take in the snow at the top of the mountains to start the the day, then drive to the beach for a swim in the sea!!.
