Eastside is a 3000 acre working family sheep farm run by Alastair and Susan Cowan. It is nestled in amongst the spectacular hills and scenery of the Pentland Hills Regional Park. The 18th century farm-steading has been imaginatively converted into three individual, character filled cottages adjacent to each other around the historical farmyard. With stunning views out onto the surrounding hills they combine an old-world rural charm with all the modern conveniences of luxury 21st Century living.
Our cottage is provided with ample car parking and each has its own delightful private garden bounded by traditional dry-stone walls.
Here you will unwind in a comfortable, spacious home from home in the hills, luxuriate by a blazing log fire as well as marveling at the magnificent views.
Enjoy all the benefits of fresh air, beautiful surroundings, wildlife and country living but still only a 10 minute drive from Edinburgh.
Eastside Steading is entered through a traditional stone archway from the farmyard. A tiled corridor leads to a very spacious light room with an open plan, modern kitchen dining room at one end. At the other end is a spacious yet cosy sitting area with sofas and a stone hearth with wood burning stove. French windows lead to the enclosed private garden which has outdoor seating and a bbq for the summer months. There is a shower/utility room with a toilet adjacent to the entrance. A spiral staircase with a hand-crafted wrought iron banister leads upstairs to a landing space, two bedrooms (one twin and one double) and a bathroom - all with velux windows to magnificent views.
N.B. Unlike many self-catering cottages there are no hidden extras! Logs and electricity are included in the price as well as bed linen and towels.
News: We are now greener than ever with our very own 15 KW windmill to power all the cottages.
