There is a patio, balcony and delightful sheltered terrace over the river with access to the slipway and water. The property has a mooring and is a short distance from Caffa Mill Car and Dinghy Park and a level five minute walk from the town centre of Fowey.
Ferrymans Cottage has been tastefully refurbished and modernised and offers quality family holiday accommodation with wonderful views. On the lower ground floor you enter the Cornish slate built cellars of the former "Sailors Return" an eighteenth century pub, but now delightfully converted. The beamed kitchen has every modern appliance including built in behind limed-oak units, gas cooker, washing and drying machine and dishwasher, fridge, freezer and microwave. The dining room, with beamed ceiling, leads onto the terrace, with gas barbecue and excellent river views. It has steps down the Passage Street Slipway. On the first floor are two double bedrooms, one of which has a bay window with lovely views, and a bathroom/wc with a shower over the bath. The second floor has two further bedrooms, one with river views and double bed; the other a single bed and full sized bunk beds. All bedrooms have vanity units.
From the cottage two levels of patio/decking view directly across to this view of the Bodinnick Ferry and Daphne du Maurier's Ferryside. The principal bedroom and another also share the view. From the lower deck access to the beach - but you'll need to swim at high tide!
We regret that we are unable to accept pets in the cottage, and no smoking is allowed. The cottage has a Friday Changeover.
Fowey, in Cornwall, is in the ancient Borough of Restormel and is so full of history, scenic variety and activity that it is like a country within a county.
Whereas the northern coastline is ruggedly spectacular, the south is a green and gold tapestry of wooded hills dropping down to secluded coves, of inlets that hide enchanting fishing villages or yacht anchorages and pilgrim trails that wind past sleepy farms and ancient stones.
In an area that offers a vast diversity of activities, you can watch a Cornish Gorsedd - gathering - fish for trout, salmon or shark; sail in a major regatta or ride as Daphne du Maurier did, far from crowds or cars on a moor as old as time.
Fowey's wider setting is St. Austell Bay, golden with beaches and a haven for watersports. Mevagissey, whose harbour launched a million picture postcards, and nearby the lovely, lazy sun-traps of Gorran Haven and Hemmick: Caerhays Castle above its own beach and, inland, another castle, Restormel, overlooking Lostwithiel and the River Fowey (pron. Foy) which grows from trout-stream to deep-water estuary and gives its name to the beautiful port at its mouth; the Roseland Peninsula - one of the most picturesque and unspoilt parts of the British Isles. Lovely beaches, delightful rivers and countryside, pretty villages and hamlets make this a perfect holiday setting.
