Galicia Retreat Spain, ORTIGUEIRA holiday cottage

Our finca is part of a small hamlet and consists of a main house,a barn and a 10.000 square meter smallholding.
The buildings originate from the 1780`s  and have been left to ruin before we acquired the property. 

They walls are made of stone and up to one meter wide and the roof is made of traditional black fish scale slate from a nearby mine. 

The wood used is mainly chestnut (grows locally)  and the wooden ceilings are all exposed. 
Many of the original beams have been restored and reused and we have utilized only natural materials for building (lime for pointing and plastering, linseed oil for treating the wood etc.).
