Garden Cottage, The Uplands, Aldeburgh Suffolk.
This delightful single storey cottage conversion is tucked away, in a “secret-garden” setting, just off Victoria Road, opposite Aldeburgh Parish Church. The beach, seafront pubs and High Street are all within a few minutes stroll from the garden gate entrance.
Garden Cottage is the former gardener's cottage within the grounds of the Edwardian Uplands Hotel, which was converted into apartments in 2008. It is hidden away from the road, within the old hotel gardens, now communally maintained and available for use by guests of Garden Cottage.
The front door leads into a small Entrance Hall with space to hang your coats.
Open plan Living Room/Kitchen: There' a two-seater sofa, a wicker armchair and a coffee table. A 26" flat screen hd tv with dvd player and FreeSat, plus a dab radio/iPod docking station. There's a small, round glass dining table with two chairs, and a large front window overlooking the garden areas.
Kitchen Area: This has granite worktops with an inset sink and waste disposal unit. Fitted Siemens and Meile appliances include an electric oven, gas hob and extractor; slimline dishwasher and fridge with freezer compartment. A Dualit Kettle and Toaster and high quility cookware, crockery and utensils complete a superbly fitted, compact kitchen. NB A microwave is also available on request.
Bedroom: This has a 5' king-size metal bed, bedside tables, a double wardrobe with drawers, and a dressing table with a stool. There is a window to the front which overlooks the beautiful gardens.
Shower Room: fully porcelain tiled with a walk in shower, a hand basin, w.c. and a heated towel rail.
Outside: There is a private car park with one space for Garden Cottage. A gravelled pathway leads from the parking space, for about 30 metres to the Cottage door.
At the front of the Cottage is a small area with table and chairs. A few steps through an archway lead into the mature, communal gardens. These are laid out with lawns and flower borders and include a patio area with wrought iron table and chairs, providing the ideal setting for outside eating or just relaxing with a glass of wine in the evening.
Sitting in the communal gardens, it is difficult to imagine you are only a couple of minutes walk from the centre of Aldeburgh as it is so secluded. Since the other properties within the Uplands all have their own, private gardens, guests staying at Garden Cottage frequently have the communal garden areas all to themselves.
Another path leads through the communal gardens and out of a private gate onto Victoria Road, opposite the Parish Church and directly towards the beach within a 2-3 minute stroll.
All prices include 100% cotton bed linen, towels, heating and electricity plus a welcome bottle of wine, tea/coffee and biscuits to help you get your break off to a relaxing start.
