Gearradhmor is a modern croft house on the west side of the Island of Barra. The accommodation is situated 3 miles west of the main village, Castlebay. The accommodation boasts two spacious family bedrooms, each with en-suite facilites and two equally spacious twin rooms, each with a private bathroom. All four rooms have an excellent view over the machair to the Atlantic Ocean - perfect for watching the spectacular summer sunsets. The rooms are equipped with tea/coffee making facilities, clothes storage and a TV. Free Wi Fi is available and some mobile telephone networks can be accessed. There is also use of a phone is by request. Laundry facillities are available at an extra cost by arrangement and an iron and ironing board can be got on request. There are two bookselves full ofinteresting books that can be enjoyed while you stay with us.There is plenty of parking space so no need to worry about your car.
If you visit in March or April you can see our lambs being born and enjoy the busy lambing period. If you stay between May and August you may be lucky enough to hear or even see the corncrake who flies from Africa to spend the summer with us.
Visitors from June onwards can enjoy our own traditionally reared lamb and beef fresh from the field to the fork with homegrown vegetables and potatoes.
There are many activites to do on Barra. While you visit you can, visit the historic Kismul Castle, the Heritage Centre, go and see the plane landing on the beach.
The Barra Golf course provides a challenging game of golf guaranteed to please everyone whether an amateur or pro.
For wet weather activities the sports centre, gym and swimming pool are available in nearby Castlebay at reasonable costs.
