The Gillen Apartment is situated on the first floor of the 18th century Stein Inn, the oldest Inn on the Isle of Skye. The Inn nestles on the shores of Lochbay. The community of Stein is now a conservation area due to its links with the 18th century engineer Thomas Telfer. The Inn itself is a grade 3 listed building.
The apartment has views of the crofting landscape at the rear of the Inn. Probably its only down side is that it does not have a sea view. However with only a few steps form the apartment, you will have a spectacular sea view. If all the conditions come together there can be some incredible sunsets visible from the front of the Inn especially in the Spring and the early Autumn. Also the clarity of the air and the lack of artificial light means that in the winter the Dark Skies can be breathtaking and if you are lucky you may even see some Northern Lights.
With most mod cons, the apartment has a Sky TV and a dvd with some DVDs. The bedroom has a double bed and in particular a docking station alarm. The bathroom has quite a powerful shower (no bath).
As well as the public picnic benches and seating to the front of the Inn, the aprtment also has access to its own garden and seating at the rear of the Inn.
Waternish and the Isle of Skye offers a large array of craft shops and Visitor Attractions to investigate. For the more adventurous there is all kinds of walking available on the island. Just in case you occasionally get a little wet!, the apartment has a drying cupboard. The Inn has 2 bikes to hire for those so inclined.
Within the Inn or the apartment there is a huge amount of information available about the island, including maps and guides to borrow while you are with us. There is also a book swap library and a variety of magazines relative to the area, the Inn and the countryside.
Stein has a jetty, lauching area and there are some moorings (by prior arrangements). There are local boat trips and a dive centre. Apparently the waters around us are wonderfully clear and full of interest.

Enjoy a holiday on the edge of Western Europe
