Welcome to our Holiday Apartment on the Kent Coast
For a family holiday or a romantic break, this light & airy apartment can offer you the perfect break. Get away from it all & treat yourself to the relaxation this spacious penthouse apartment offers. The flexible accommodation comfortably sleeps 7 people, with a sumptuous master bedroom en suite, a second family room and double bed settee in the lounge. The penthouse is in a detached building perfectly located for easy access to town centre shopping or hide away beaches & bars. Though excellent modern self-catering facilities are provided, you could treat yourself to lunch at The Mermaid cafe directly on the promenade overlooking the beach.
The Famous Ship Inn, Sand Gate Lounge & Bar Vasa all have alfresco eating areas overlooking the sea & there are many more fantastic restaurants & bars for fun evenings & romantic dinners. All are within easy walking distance of the apartment & a moonlight stroll along the promenade is a great way to round off the perfect evening.
The property: Recently refurbished, apartment 4 in the Greenhills building is a welcoming space - a home from home. From the moment you walk in the door, you feel the calming influence of this light and airy retreat. It's going to be a great holiday! With two large bedrooms and a capacious open plan lounge and dining area, you could have the place to yourself or bring all your friends. The luxury offered by the master bedroom is tantalising while the whole apartment lends itself to flexibility, sleeping up to 8 comfortably.
Most windows have a sea view as can be seen from the photos and the inviting window seat between kitchen and lounge is great for morning coffee and planning the day or just day-dreaming while you take in the sea air! (Children should be supervised near open windows). A supply of books, games and DVD's along with a very realistic 'coal' gas fire offers the option of a cosy night in.
The area: Folkestone's lively town centre & main shopping facilities are a 15 minute stroll along the famous Leas or the more recent addition of the Leas Coastal Park. The local bus route has stops at the top of the road. The town has a broad range of restaurants, fast-food outlets, clubs and pubs as well as the ubiquitous shopping centre in case you get withdrawal symptoms. It also has an arts and cultural quarter and an interesting harbour area where you can buy fresh fish and seafood daily. Slightly further along the coast and served by the same main bus route, Hythe is an interesting fusion of town and village, being more of a town than a village, yet housing many unique shops rather than the big household names in Folkestone. The Malthouse Arcade is an interesting collection of private traders selling memorabilia of all kinds. Whether you want a first world war uniform or a piece of art deco glass, you will be amazed at what you might unearth here in this captivating warren of delights!
Activity or getaway?: Folkestone to Hythe has a wonderful five-mile section of National Cycle Route 2 & is highly recommended as perfect for cyclists & walkers of all ages & abilities. Several golf courses provide different opportunities to test your ability from a links 9-hole at the Hotel Imperial to the more challenging Sene Valley course. Historic sites like Dover, Chilham & Leeds Castles not only provide interest of themselves, but occasionally offer activities like outdoor theatre productions, jousting tournaments, firework displays & music concerts. Hythe canal has boats to rent so you can row up and down Napoleon's defence system.
Sandgate is home to Folkestone Rowing Club, so after your stroll to along the Leas or through the Coastal Park to Folkestone Harbour for your fresh fish you can bbq them on the beach and watch the rowers practising through the week for their weekend competitions. Many of the beaches are dog free & there is even the 'unofficial nudist beach' for the naturist out there!
