Welcome to Gypsy Caravan Breaks, our traditional holiday accommodation in Rural Somerset
You will sleep in a brightly painted gypsy caravan known as an "open lot" bow top wagon. The comfortable but basic facilities take you back to a rural lifestyle long since forgotten. Sited in an old cider apple orchard, the bow top sleeps two in a traditional extending double bed, this is raised to take advantage of the widest point in the bowed roof so you will need to be reasonably agile to climb in!
Traditionally travellers did all their washing and cooking outside. There is an open camp fire for cooking but there is a small, more modern caravan nearby with gas hob, fridge and simple washing facilities.
Toilet facilities are catered for with an environmentally friendly compost loo, it sounds primitive but is, in fact, quite civilised. It saves water and avoids the pollution of chemical toilets and WCs.
Bed linen is provided as are basic utensils, crockery and cutlery, nothing fancy though.
The site is quiet and secluded, being nearly half a mile from the village at the end of a no through lane.
There is so much to see and do nearby; historic houses, the Fleet Air Arm Museum, Wookey Hole, Cheddar Gorge, Wells Cathederal, Haynes Motor Museum, Glastonbury, with it's abbey ruins and world famous Tor and, of course, the wonderful Somerset Levels and beautiful Somerset countryside.
