"La Terrasse" is situated in the lovely quiet village of Le Vivier and Le Vivier is located in the stunning Fenouilledes region of the Pyrenees-Orientales.
The house is furnished to a very high standard and offers comfortable and relaxed accommodation for couples who feel the need to escape and relax in beautiful surrounds.
The village of Le Vivier is dominated by the old chateau and is surrounded by beautiful countryside ideal for walkers and bird watchers alike. Whilst there are no shops in the village the bread van comes 3 times a week, the meat van arrives to sell fresh meats and the pizza van comes to the neighbouring village of Fosse on a Tuesday night.
The Fenouilledes region is well know for its huge choice of wines of which can be easily tasted at one of the many wine caves, some of which do lunches and evening meals. We are also in the heart of Cathar country where at least one of the amazing Cathar castles should be visited.
The coast is just over 1 hrs drive as are the ski slopes in the winter months. For the more active, there is always the white water rafting on the river Aude, horse riding, rock climbing, canoeing or even doing a full days walk. For people who wish to simply unwind you can always relax on the roof terrace with a cold glass of wine, a good book and let the day slip by.
The village of Caudies de Fenouilledes is a 10 minute drive where you will find a local bakers, a butchers, small mini market, bar, restaurant, chemist and doctors if needed. Saint Paul is 5 minutes further and has a large super market, fuel station, banks as well as more cafes and restaurants.
If you are looking for things to do there are plenty. You can choose from White water rafting, Horse riding, Walking, Birdwatching, Trips down to the coast, Visiting any of the 3 Cathar castles, The Roman aquaduct, Open air markets, Wine tasting, Sight seeing. Ther really is so much to look at in this area you will need 2 weeks to fully appreciate it.
