Mierki Cottages Self Catering Masurian Lake District Poland, Olsztynek holiday cottage

We have converted an old stone barn into two self-contained semidetached cottages, with all modern comforts and old fashioned cosy fireplaces. There is a lot of space outside for barbecues, for children to play, or just a lazy afternoon outside in the sun and fresh air. Masuria and the Masurian Lake District are known in Polish as the "land of a thousand lakes." From our 16 year old daughter’s point of view this is one of the most beautiful places on earth. The country side is unspoilt and you can lose yourself in the surrounding forests. Go for a walk and you might stumble upon a deer, wild boar, storks nesting and countless lakes. It is usually warm and sunny in the summer and cold and snowy in the winter when lakes are frozen. Separately controlled gas central heating and insulation make the cottages suitable for all year occupation even in severe winters. Outside, large open area for outdoor living, barbecues and games, designated parking area on the site. Shop with all the essentials in the village and supermarket about 5km away, about 30km from the major town of Olsztyn. The nearest town Olsztynek is 5km away with its supermarkets and restaurants and open air folk museum “Skansen Olsztynek”. Olsztyn which is the major town in the area with its beautiful old town and medieval castle is 30km away. Freely accessible hotel/leisure centre by the lake with private beach, indoor swimming pool, restaurant and other holiday facilities is a walking distance from the cottages.
