Welcome to North Hill Cottages, our pet friendly cottages in Devon. The 8 holiday cottages are situated close to all the amenities of Barnstaple, North Devon and are set in a stunning rural location with the nearest neighbour 3/4 of a mile away. The cottages sleep 2, 4, and 6 people and overall self catering holiday accommodation for up to 34 people. Ideal for couples, large groups of friends, families and children, well behaved pets and dogs are welcome at our holiday cottages.
Our cottages have a range of excellent facilities, including an Indoor heated swimming pool with toddlers pool, jacuzzi, sauna, all weather tennis court, games room (table tennis & snooker) and a children's play area.
The Cottages
17th Century Farm buildings have been sympathetically converted into holiday cottages with exposed beams, wood-burning stoves and central heating. Set in 8 acres of pastures and gardens, North Hill caters for children and adults.
All the self catering cottages have exposed beams full of characteristic charm and individuality, some retaining many original features. All are furnished to a very high standard with fitted carpets, pine furniture, matching linen and curtains, full size cookers, fridge freezers, microwaves, colour televisions, video recorders and DVD players. Every cottage has its own wood burner as well as central heating.
We have the following cottages available:
· Shippon Cottage – Sleeps 6 plus Cot; a large comfortable living room/dining room with fitted kitchen and south facing views of the valley. Double bedroom, twin bedroom with two foot six inch beds, children's bunk room and a bathroom/W.C. with over-bath shower.
· Byre Cottage – Sleeps 4 plus Cot; a lovely cottage with superb views from all main rooms. Lounge/dining room with fitted pine kitchens, double and twin bedrooms, bathroom/W.C. with overbath shower.
· Rye Cottage - Sleeps 2; An ideal cottage for that first or second honeymoon. It is south facing with a large open plan living/dining room with a fitted pine kitchen and four poster bed set into an alcove. Bathroom/W.C. with over-bath shower.
· Harvest Cottage – Sleeps 6 plus cot; a large cottage with oak beams and superb views from the lounge/dining room with fitted pine kitchen. Double bedroom, twin bedroom and children's bunk bedroom with pine bunk beds. Bathroom/W.C. with over-bath shower. Car parking outside front door.
· Orchard Cottage – sleeps 4 plus cot; an attractive south facing cottage with superb views. Living/dining room with new kitchen area. Double bedroom with en-suite bathroom/W.C. with over-bath shower and a children's pine bunk room. . Parking at the side of the cottage
· Holly Cottage – sleeps 4 plus Cot; Originally the mill building, Holly is well situated for the pool and ideal for the family. Open plan living/dining room with fitted kitchen. Double bedroom, children's bunk room with pine bunk beds and bathroom/W.C. with over bath shower.
· Ivy Cottage - Sleeps 2 + Cot; Cosy cottage for two or a new family. Living/dining room with fitted kitchen area. Double room with a four poster bed and en-suite bathroom/W.C. with over-bath shower. Unrivaled views from the living room overlooking the valley down to the Taw estuary in Barnstaple. Ivy is situated within a few steps of the swimming pool.
· Willow Cottage – Sleeps 6 plus cot, a very spacious cottage. Ground floor large living room/dining room and fitted kitchen. Twin room en-suite W.C./Shower room. Pine staircase leading to minstrel gallery (safe for children) with door adjacent to swimming pool. Double room with four poster bed, twin room and bathroom/W.C. with over-bath shower. A cottage for those who want plenty of room.
The Facilities
Here at North Hill we have a range of facilities to further help you to enjoy your stay. These include our indoor heated swimming pool with toddlers pool, sauna, jacuzzi, all weather tennis court and games room. We also have full laundry facilities and a fully stocked woodshed for your woodburning stove. There is also an excellent childrens play area. The 33 ft indoor heated swimming pool heated to circa 30 degrees is open all year round, with a changing room, shower/W.C., Large kiddies paddling pool and jacuzzi (heated to circa 38 degrees) whatever the weather outside. Although used by eight cottages there are times when you will find you have the pool to yourself.
The Location
After following the mile long drive which meanders its way upwards through a beautiful wooded valley teeming with wildlife, - deer, foxes, badgers, buzzards, herons and wood peckers to name but a few, you will experience the peace and tranquility that North Hill offers. The cottages are located near Barnstaple, in North Devon. North Devon has it all. The magnificent National Park of Exmoor provides thousands of acres of moorland teeming with wildlife and steeped in history. The nearby coastline offers some of the finest beaches in the country with golden sands stretching for mile after mile, or why not explore the many leafy lanes and meandering rivers scything through majestic countryside.
