Welcome to Pekes Manor House, near Hailsham, East Sussex
This exceptional large group self catering holiday home is a tile hung Tudor Manor House on three floors with oak-beamed ceilings, panelled rooms, and a croquet lawn. It is situated in unspoilt countryside up a drive of about 350 yards. This makes it peaceful and secluded and safe from the road. The holiday home sleeps up to 18 people.
At the back it looks out over a large lawn approx: the size of 2 tennis courts. The lawn badminton court is marked out at the near end of the lawn. The croquet is set up at the far end. This lawn is exclusively for the use of visitors to Pekes. The hard tennis court is out of sight and shared with other visitors. The excellent facilities include a heated indoor heated swimming pool.
There are 8 double bedrooms, large kitchen and kitchen annexe, 4 bathrooms (2 with bath, wc and basin, 2 with modern shower, wc and basin) and 3 reception rooms. There is full oil-fired central heating. Eggs and vegetables are usually available from the gardener. Cooking, cleaning and nanny help is usually available on request.
There is a pay phone for outgoing and incoming calls
The whole estate comprises 28 acres in all. Other visitors have general use of parts of these. You will not be disturbed however - the big lawn is private and it is a very quiet secluded spot.
Rental includes oil to a limit of £80 p.w. and all household equipment: use of our indoor heated swimming pool and your own private Jacuzzi. Please note rental does not include electricity (meters are read on arrival and upon departure) or cleaning on departure (see booking form).
Logs are available in the woodshed near the house at £2 per sack - you just pay if you use them. A cot is available on request, plus high chair if required. No extra charge. Deposit re-breakage and extras normally about £100 per week/end (for terms see booking form).
We have four other self catering cottages situated on the Pekes Manor estate, sleeping up to 16 people in comfort, more if you don’t mind being squashed! They centre on the Edwardian Wing of the Manor House.
The Wing Sleeps 2-4
The rooms are inter-connecting and therefore not suited to all holiday makers. The passage that used to connect these rooms to the main house has been converted into a kitchen, bathroom and WC. This has the advantage of eliminating any noise coming from the main house. There is a large living area and double bedroom. The wing has a private entrance and garden.
The Gate Cotage Sleeps 6
On the ground floor there is a living Room with working fireplace and a dining Room with table and equipment for 4-6 people.The kitchen is quite small it is nicely fitted with units and has all the machines. There is also bathroom.
On the first floors there are two bedrooms one with a double bed, the other with two single divans.
It has its own peaceful, large garden, mainly grass, which is safely enclosed making it suitable for small children and dogs.
Mounts View Sleeps 8
Mounts View cottage is an eco friendly house with full insulation and double glazing. It has solar panels to heat the hot water and a state of the art septic tank that discharges only clean water! The cottage has 3 double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, good kitchen and exceptional sitting room with dining alcove and brilliant views.
Tudor View Sleeps 7
It is a bungalow cottage with a sitting room with an open fire, comfortable chairs and those views. The kitchen/ dining room has fitted units and a light oak table with an overhead light and dimmer switch. It has two Bedrooms: One double room with king size bed and one twin room plus single comfortable Z bed. There is also a bed settee in the double bedroom.
Pekes Estate is situated twelve miles inland from Eastbourne,eighteen miles from Brighton and nine miles from Lewes in the county of East Sussex in the South east of England. Up a drive of 350 yards with unspoilt views of the countryside.
