Welcome to our Gourmet Bed & Breakfast and Chambres d'Hôtes in Normandy
Owned and managed by husband and wife team, Gary and Jean Johnston, Petit Illyria is a lovingly restored town house, not far from the centre of the quiet market town of Saint-James. On the Normandy - Brittany border, this elegant house and beautiful landscaped garden was once the residence of the town's doctor. It has now been converted into a Chambres d'Hôtes, offering peaceful, leisurely bed and breakfast accommodation.

With five individually designed bedrooms for the sole purpose of comfort and hospitality for its guests, we provide a haven of peace and relaxation for the traveller.
Our comfortable rooms have been recently and individually refurbished to a very high standard, and we offer Single, Double and Double en suite rooms, each with its own "personal touch".
Our Gourmet Cuisine
Gary and Jean, your hosts, are both fully trained chefs with experience in Traditional French, British and ethnic cooking. We grow our own fresh vegetables and fruit, and offer Full English breakfasts or simple meals using local produce. We also offer Full evening meals, afternoon teas, packed lunches for the following day. Whatever your requirements, we are at your service.
Our Chambres d'Hôtes location on the Normandy Brittany Border
Our bed and breakfast is located near the centre of Saint-James, on the border of Normandy and Brittany. Fortified city walls protected the town and it was an overnight stop for the pilgrims en route from Saint-Jacques de Compostelle to Mont Saint-Michel. Rich in history, Saint-James has the second largest American cemetery for soldiers, sailors and airmen killed in action during the World War Two Normandy landings of 1944. A short drive away, Fougères, with its turreted mediaeval castle, is worth a visit.
