It enjoys an ideal position with some of the best coastal and rural scenery that the UK has to offer in this unique part of the famous Jurassic coast. 

There’s a lot to do on Portland and walking, sailing, diving, climbing, surfing, paragliding, parasurfing, wind surfing, bird watching, archaeological digging and geological surveying are just some of the things to take advantage of. Then of course there’s the good old fashioned just lazing around and letting the children play in the fully enclosed, safe, delightful, lawned garden. 

Recently fully refurbished, Portland Retreat has all the amenities that you would expect from 4 Star accommodation, with a separate, safe parking area for a large car or boat, plus ample adjacent street parking. From the moment you awake you can enjoy the sun streaming into every room and remaining in the garden long enough to enjoy an evening barbeque, or a quiet, relaxing drink. Alternatively, on those days when the sun isn’t so strong and you just want to be cosy in front of the Sky tv, the full double glazing and centrally heating throughout the house is ideal. Popular all year round, the Retreat is an idyllic location for couples, families and friends who want to spend a relaxing time in four star style. All beds are full size and in spacious bedrooms, rather than on sofa beds that are common features of self-catering. Soft white bed linen is supplied and changed weekly by the Housekeeper who ensures your overall satisfaction with your accommodation. In addition to the large lounge and dining area, there's also a great conservatory with a full-size 3 piece suit where you can get away from the TV. That's of course if you are not in the gardens enjoying the pleasant evenings. There’s also free WiFi Broadband for those who want to surf the internet or stay in touch. With everyone’s busy schedules these days, being on holiday is often the only time when families and friends can dine properly together and enjoy chatting about the things that they have done that day and the plan tomorrow’s activities. With its picture windows offering different aspects of the gardens and the sun streaming in from first thing in the morning, the dining kitchen provides a two metre long table where everyone can probably find a place. 

Access to Portland’s network of excellent designated walks is only 100 metres from the house, with a pub and 4 star restaurant and entertainment just 250 metres away. The venue for the 2012 Olympic sailing and windsurfing events are some 3 miles away and the resort of Weymouth just 6 miles away. A bus service around Portland and Weymouth leaves every 7 minutes from just across the road.
