Arriving at Rock Cottage
Park your car at the roofline of Rock cottage (whose name typifies its setting, carved into a Devon shale hillside), and if you have ever wondered how thatch looks up-close, you may inspect for yourself. Then take a moment to enjoy the view of rolling hills leading down to the Taw Estuary, the silence broken only by distant lowing cattle, gently bleating sheep or the chattering songs of woodland birds, and you realize that you’re in a holiday world already, and you haven't even stepped inside your cosy cottage retreat.
Inside The Cottage
Rock Cottage’s 17th century two-foot-thick walls will keep you naturally cool in the summer, and combined with the insulating properties of the thatched roof, keep you snug and warm in the winter. There is a storage heater in every room, with a wood burner in the living room for very cosy winter evenings!
Key facilities inside include Wi-Fi wireless broadband, dtv with dvd (living room and main bedroom), dab tuner/ CD player (living room only), fridge/ freezer, washer/ dryer, aeg hotplate with built-under self-cleaning twin-oven with grill, separate LG microwave oven, Kenwood kettle and toaster, Habitat and Portmeirion (oven-to-) tableware and mugs, full range of stainless steel pots, pans, knives and cooking utensils. Separate chopping boards for meat, fish, poultry and vegetables; vacuum flasks and picnic wares (if you forgot to pack your own!); dining tables and chairs (indoors and out).
Outside The Cottage
Key features outside include off road parking for 2/3 cars (depending on size!), upper patio with rock garden, border, arbour and chairs, steps to either the front of the cottage or to the rear, lower patio with all-weather dining/ craft table with 6 chairs and twin sun-shades next to a raised flower bed with a small hill-path leading from a separate decking area, and a wood-store.
