The hotel is graced by a fine collection of 54 antique English clocks dating from 1670 to circa 1860 lending to the air of history.Lying equidistant from Matlock and Buxton and on the edge of the Chatsworth Estate Bakewell is surrounded by spectacular countryside yet is easily accessible by road rail and car. Ironically with a past firmly intertwined with that of both Chatsworth and Haddon Hall this thriving market town is now most famous for the Bakewell Pudding which originated here in the kitchens of the Rutland Arms.Most important to guests is the quality of the food. Greg Wallace who heads the kitchen team has worked in a number of award-winning restaurants including the London Criterion Marco Pierre White whilst sous chef Matt Robinson has worked at Gordon Ramsey's Savoy Grill and Michelin-starred Winteringham Fields.
