Stable Cottage was converted in 2002 from an outbuilding in the garden of the owners' home, a traditional Victorian former manse in an acre of wooded grounds near the edge of Auchencairn village with views towards the Bay.
The cottage, which accommodates up to 4 persons, is simply but comfortably furnished, and comprises an upstairs sitting room; one double bedroom with double bed; a downstairs twin bedroom with two single beds; shower room with wc, washbasin and shower cubicle; and a fitted dining kitchen which is fully equipped with table and four chairs, full-size four-ring electric cooker, microwave, toaster, fridge with icebox, and washing machine. All linens and towels are provided for your stay.
There is a small library of books, leaflets and board games. The cottage has no television, but there is a CD player and radio, and wireless broadband is available on request. Outside there is a small sitting area, a balcony and a designated parking area for one car. The cottage is a non-smoking property.
The village of Auchencairn offers abundant opportunities for walking, cycling, golf, fishing and birdwatching as well as for sightseeing in this lovely part of Scotland. It is ideally placed for visiting the beautiful countryside, unspoilt coast and picturesque towns and villages of Dumfries and Galloway. Village facilities include a garage for repairs, and a post office/shop open on weekdays (early closing Wed.). The Old Smugglers Inn is a welcoming place for a drink, and provides meals daily.
