Taft Self-Catering
Taft means "house on the hill", overlooking the bay of Aywick. We have super views to the local islands of Fetlar, Skerries and Whalsay bring a camera and sketchbook! The area attracts otters, sea birds, migrating birds and other wildlife. In the summer, whales, dolphines and other marine creatures can be spotted.
Taft is all on ground level & has some grab rails and 2 ramps. Unfortunetly the doorframes cannot accomodate wheelchairs. The entrance has jacket hooks, a heater, a washing machine & notice board with phone numbers, local & travel information. The shower/WC is wetroom style with a shower seat. The double bedroom is next door with ample storage & towels. The living room has a large sofa bed. There is a kitchen/dining room.
The house has been renovated and tastefully furnished with ikea furniture. We hang the work of local artists and photographers - all available to purchase should you be tempted. I also stock exclusive craft work such as jewellery and textiles. Everything is included in your stay and a Shetland Welcome Food pack is provided for stays a week or more. For all other stays, there will be local milk, bread and our fresh eggs will be provided. A baby/young child pack is available with cot, linen, highchair and toys. We can lend other items such as a buggy, bath and steam steriliser if required. There is freeview, dvd player and a library of Shetland books.
