The Barnekin is a beautiful VisitBritain 4 star croft style cottage that sits high up in the hilltop hamlet of Lempitlaw, where the endless skies of the Scottish Borders meet the majestic solitude of the Cheviot Hills - yet it is still only 5 miles from all of the amenities of the pretty cobbled streets and market square of Kelso. 

Traditional in style, yet actually a contemporary property, it combines all of the benefits of luxury up-to-date kitchen and bathroom fittings, including quality Smeg kitchen appliances and wonderfully effective gas central heating, with the peace and charm of an utterly rural location, character furnishings and a snug multi-fuel stove for those chillier evenings. 

Panoramic views stretch out in all directions.  There is also ample parking and a large enclosed double garden at the south-facing rear of the cottage (designed with a relaxing sitting area for adults and a more open area for active children).  Add to these, the chance to explore all of the history, countryside and coast of the Borders and Northumberland, and we think we've discovered the perfect escape destination for both families and couples - and lots of our guests agree!
