Situated on the east end of Dalkeith's High Street, overlooking the historic St Nicholas Buccleuch Parish Church which dates back to the 12th century, the three star County Hotel has something to suit all tastes and budgets.
Only seven miles from everything Edinburgh has to offer, with a frequent bus service taking you straight to Princes Street in the heart of the city, Dalkeith’s premier location, adjacent to the Edinburgh City Bypass, the A1 and the A7, is within easy access from all major transport networks, with Edinburgh International Airport located only twelve miles away and Waverley Train Station seven miles.
The County Hotel therefore constitutes a convenient point of linkage between Midlothian, East Lothian and the Scottish Borders, an ideal base from which to explore the heritage and peaceful landscapes of these regions.
The County offers 32 comfortable en-suite bedrooms, with a Coffee Lounge, Bar and Restaurant on site for our guests.
Bedrooms
Fitted for your comfort, whether working or relaxing, The County Hotel features 32 en-suite bedrooms; single, double, twin, triple or family, as well as four superior Queen rooms and a four-poster room. With ample work desk space, free wifi, 24” flat screen TV’s with inbuilt dvd players and complimentary beverages, each room provides a comfortable space for travelling executives and tourists alike. Two ‘dog friendly’ bedrooms are also available with prior arrangement.
Our premium location has allowed us to combine our accommodation with a multitude of leisure options, for example local golfing and horse racing breaks.
Restaurant
Freshly prepared food is served from 12 noon in the restaurant, which can seat up to 80 guests, with the upper restaurant area suitable for intimate gatherings of up to 30 guests. Last orders are at 9pm, (9.30pm on Friday and Saturday evenings)
With an ample selection of dining options available, there is guaranteed to be something to suit all preferences. Light Bites, Spanish Tapas, Early Supper, Old Favourites, Children’s and A La Carte Menus all available.
Bar
The Piano Bar has recently undergone refurbishment and is now the perfect place to meet and enjoy a leisurely drink. Our head barman James will mix to order with a wide range of soft drinks, wines, lagers, and beers available, as well as a great selection of Scottish Malt Whiskys. A new menu featuring favourite cocktails is also soon to be introduced. Catherine also plays piano in the bar every Sunday from 2pm until 6pm.
The County Coffee Shop
Relax on comfy sofas with the daily newspapers or take advantage of our free wifi in The County Coffee Shop, open daily from 8.30am, serving a selection Italian Segafredo coffees and teas as well as a choice of delicious cakes and scones.
Conference, Banqueting & Function Facilities
The County Hotel is perfectly placed to manage your conference, banqueting and business meeting requirements. Its premium location, adjacent to Edinburgh City Bypass, the A1 and A7, as well as the use of flexible facilities, conferencing equipment and an economical pricing structure constitute the main benefits on offer, along with a special commitment to high quality service.
We are ready to facilitate your event, whether it be a wedding reception, birthday celebration, funeral tea or business conference, to ensure it runs smoothly, allowing you to concentrate on your own goals and outcomes. We offer a prompt response to all types of request from your initial telephone call onwards.
Moreover, our two function rooms, suitable for both business and social use, are spacious and comfortable and can be set up in a range of different layouts in accordance with your specific requirements.
Prices for each function suite are set up for half or full days bookings.
Rosebury Suite
Can hold up to 120 guests and is self-contained with own bar, dance floor and toilet block.
Melrose Suite
Consists of a main room and a further ‘breakout’ room and can hold 40 + 20 guests.
Equipment included in room hire: 84" Smartboard, webinar conferencing, Internet access via pc, free wifi, 42" flat screen TV and dvd player, 84" wall mounted pull down projection screen and flipchart. Photocopying and Fax services also available on request.
