Awarded 3 stars by the Tourist Board, Maison Cachée is a family friendly gite near Jarnac in the Charente. Once the kitchens and hay loft serving the Priory of Ste. Catherine de La Champ. It is set off a peaceful courtyard surrounded by vineyards and sunflowers.
Maison Cachée sleeps four comfortably in two adjoining double bedrooms, one king sized, one double. There is also a sprung sofa bed and cot. The shower room has a comfortable corner shower, basin and toilet.
Well equipped kitchen: fridge freezer, oven, hob, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, coffee machine. Dining table & chairs and sofa. Sterliliser, bottle warmer, Maclaren Bugggy.
The wood burning stove and radiators keep it cosy in the chillier months.
All bed linens, towels and a weekly linen change are included. Beach and pool towels are not included.
Games and toys for young children, dvds and books, there is a TV/DVD player plus free wifi.
The gite has it's own garden gravelled area with loungers, tables, chairs and umbrellas, a Weber bbq and children are welcome to use the sandpit and wooden climbing frame in the main garden. We also have an above ground 3.5 metre filtered splash pool.
Bicycles and a canoe can be made available by prior arrangement. There are quiet places in the main garden to sit and we have a 3.5 metre above ground filtered childrens pool. Chambre d'hote guests benefit from our own produce and eggs
There is secure parking in the gated courtyard.
The town of Rouillac with supermarket, pharmacy, doctor, post office, restaurants, bars, boulangerie and swimming pool are 2 minutes away by car. The river & Jarnac 10min and it is 20 mins to the historic town of Cognac and 25 to Angouleme. Horse riding, golf, fishing, cycling and water sports are all nearby. This is a great base to relax in and discover the region.
2 mins by car the local outdoor swimming pool has 4 pools, inc. children’s pool, baby pool, picnic area, swings and petanque. Opening 2pm till 10pm July and August. It is extremely well run and the Maitre d'Piscine keeps all youngsters in check and runs swimming lessons in the morning for little ones, they even sell ice creams!
