Welcome to our B&B in Kent
The Marquis at Alkham offers boutique style luxury accommodation in the heart of the English countryside. The styling is contemporary. The décor is chic. But look outside the window, and you couldn't be anywhere but England.
Our five en suite bedrooms have views across the Alkham Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the heart of the Kent Downs. The village's small and picturesque cricket pitch can be seen from most of the rooms. There's also a large two roomed suite with a sofa which converts to a double bed if required.
So make yourself at home. With pocket sprung mattresses dressed in luxury cotton, sumptuous furniture and fabrics; your own flat screen lcd tv; wireless internet access; luxury contemporary styled bathrooms with powerful showers; towelling robes and finest toiletries and the best of rural England unfurling outside, it'd be hard not to...
Our Location
Situated close to the Channel Port of Dover, Folkestone's Channel Tunnel and Canterbury, the Marquis restaurant and hotel stands in the picturesque village of Alkham at the Southern end of the Kent Downs.
The surrounding Alkham Valley, with its rolling hills and narrow country lanes, is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and three of our five luxury rooms have views of both the valley and the village's tiny cricket pitch, which claims to be one of the smallest in England.
It's an idyllic spot. Perfect for a weekend break; ideally situated for an overnight stay on your way to or returning from the continent; impressive for entertaining with its stylish restaurant serving seasonally inspired, locally sourced cuisine; and a handsome backdrop to your Kent wedding, function or corporate events.
Don't miss Dover Castle and Canterbury Cathedral, they're two of the most distinctive and historical buildings in Britain and they're pretty much on our doorstep. And if you like walking, horse riding, sailing, golf, cricket, fishing... you'll be spoilt for choice.
But the setting's not just breathtaking, it's convenient too. Just 5 minutes from the M20 - and only 10 from the Channel Tunnel or Dover's Port and Cruise Terminal – central London is under one hour 30 minutes away; Paris less than three so your holiday on the continent starts here!
