The Tufton Arms Hotel is a small intimate, luxury hotel in Cumbria, situated in the centre of the charming medieval town of Appleby-in-Westmorland. Appleby is rightly regarded as the jewel of North West towns with its wide elegant main street Boroughgate, ancient church and grand castle all looped by the River Eden. The town is set in the heart of the tranquil, unspoilt and beautiful Eden Valley, which borders the nearby Lake District.
Our luxury hotel features and accommodation
Contemporary fabrics, soft muted paint colours and heavily patterned wallpapers combine with antiques, Victorian engravings and large table lamps to give our guests beautiful luxury hotel accommodation in Cumbria.
Whilst our bathrooms are modern and contemporary with luxurious Molten Brown toiletries and soft bath robes to make you feel really special and cosseted. Our portfolio of hotel accommodation contains 22 bedrooms offering single rooms at a very reasonable rates to extravagant suites with extra space and luxury. We also have two rooms situated on the ground floor easily accessible from our Mews courtyard.
Our Restaurant is elegant and comtempary and we pride ourselves on our local food connections from Ewbanks our butchers next door to the hotel, who have just been voted in the top 10 butchers in the UK to our fresh fish delivered daily from Fleetwood by Neves. Our menus are varied both in price and content with something for everybody. No restaurant in Appleby, Cumbria or anywhere else would be complete with out a decent wine list and ours will not disappoint both in its value and diversity. Wine is a passion of ours and we import ourselves directly from Italy, Spain and Chile.

Just some of the activities you can enjoy are hillwalking in the breathtaking North Pennines, exploring the spectacular Lake District or sampling the fantastic golf courses in Cumbria. We can also arrange salmon and brown trout fishing on the local River Eden, as well as offering excellent fly fishing courses with a local experts. Country houses, castles and galleries are just a few of the places of interest to visit, including Dalemain House and the stunning National Trust gardens.
