Wood Cottage is a Visit Wales four star coastal `chocolate box` hideaway. Lovingly restored and maintained, this charming cottage offers all the comfort of home coupled with peace and tranquility in a private woodland setting blessed with wildlife.
A babbling stream runs through the garden feeding the famous Bosherston Lily Ponds. Otters from the ponds are occasional visitors to the cottage garden.
Once home to the Earl of Cawdor’s Head Gardener and located on the National Trust Stackpole Estate, the cottage sits in complete seclusion at the end of a tree lined track.
Available all year, some seasonal weeks tend to get booked 9 -18 months in advance. The property ideally suits a maximum of up to 4 adults and 2 children but is equally, if not more popular, with just 2 adults looking for that memorable getaway from it all perfect escape.
The open fire, modern central heating system, digital widescreen TV and library of films and music make it a memorable retreat for those wishing to escape for a short winter break (available November to mid March). The drive time from Bristol is 2.5 hours.
Beaches of international fame for their exotic beauty and environmental qualities are a stroll from the cottage front door.
A series of short woodland and lakeside trails lead to the fabulous sandy beaches of Barafundle and Broad Haven. Stackpole Quay, Bosherston Lily Ponds, a National Nature Reserve and the famous Pembrokeshire Coast Path are easily accessible by foot. The cottage location is perfect for a series of amazing circular walks of gentle grade embracing woodland, freshwater lake. sand dune, nature reserve and coastal environments rich in wildlife and fauna.
The award winning Stackpole Inn is a mere 12 minute walk from the cottage and offers a high quality dining experience coupled with a local pub ambience. The St Govan’s Inn and Freshwater Inn are a short car drive or 45 minute walk away and offer excellent value for money `home cooked` meals. All the local inns stock a good selection of regionally brewed real ales.
Inside the cottage: the kitchen is well equipped with all the appliances, utensils and accessories to cook and serve a Christmas day lunch. There is a ground floor shower room and w/c and a full sized family bathroom on the first floor. The beds are presented with luxury bedding and linen.

A selection of the latest comments from our guests:
“I have been visiting Wood Cottage for many years & have always found the owner very pleasant & willing to rectify any problems. I highly recommend a holiday in this property - as long as you don't pinch my week!!!!”
Joan Macleod and Friends, Southport, Lancashire. 27 April 2012
"Our family party of six adults enjoyed our stay in Wood Cottage immensely. It was certainly peaceful. It was wonderful to awake to the sounds of birds singing and the little stream in the garden. We heard no other sounds during our stay.
We found the house was warm and cosy as promised."
Freda Hall and Family, Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire. 30th March 2012
"Yet another perfect autumn escape in this tranquil cosy cottage. We've never stayed anywhere where the walks straight from the cottage door are so wonderful; down through woodland, past beautiful lakes to a first rate sandy beach. The walled gardens on Stackpole estate are a firm favourite with me, and I always come away with a stash of plants! Walter the dog never wants to go home and neither do we! See you next year."
Helen and Mick Brown, Wakefield. 2nd November 2011
"Lovely snug cottage in a perfect location for exploring the area. We loved the mix of woods and coast. The National Trust Boathouse Tearooms always hit the spot. No otters unfortunately- hope to return to continue the search!"
Claire Hungate, London. 22nd October 2011
"Yet another lovely week in Wood Cottage, Fabulous meal at the Stackpole Inn and good pub grub at the St Govan's Inn. Lovely walks and fantastic beaches as always. Cottage as snug as ever. Thank you."
Greg and Debbi Payne, Coalville, Leicestershire. 14th October 2011
"We have reluctantly left to make our way home. We were thrilled with the cottage and have had a wondefully relaxing week. We are sat overlooking Freshwater East- little windy but gorgeous. Hope to return to Stackpole one day and many thanks."
Tracey Henry, Chinnor, Oxfordshire. 23rd September 2011
"A wonderful place, warm, cosy and well equipped cottage. Sitting outside with a glass of wine and listening to the stream and watching the birds sweeping pass, or laying in bed and listening to the owls and other noises I didn't recognise! The gorgeous walks, the woods, the lily ponds, the beaches, kingfishers, dragonflies, herons, swans, pike and seeing the same robin on the same wooden post on 3 seperate walks..... Not needing a car except to buy a loaf of bread at Pembroke. A place of Perfect Peace- many, many thanks."
Marcia Smithers, Weston-super-Mare, North Somerset. 14th September 2011
"A great location. Really enjoyed the walks around the beaches. Authentic fire added to the cosy atmosphere of the cottage. Beds in the upstairs twin room were so comfy:)"

"Another glorious week at Wood Cottage. It was clean & there was a vase of lovely tulips which lasted all week. I loved the new sofa. Many thanks again for letting us use your beautiful cottage. Is it free for the same week next year?"
Joan Macleod, Southport, Lancashire, 29th April 2011
"We thought this is a magical place- so quiet and peaceful. Broad Haven is the best beach with caves and arches for the kids to explore. I'm sure we will be back."

"Just wanted to say how much we all enjoyed our short stay at Wood Cottage. We were absolutely thrilled to be back for our third stay in the 'Pink Cottage'. As ever we found the cottage to be lovely and welcoming and our 4 days have gone far too quickly. The garden seemed much more open to the stream this time and the boys really enjoyed that."
Rob Taylor, Bristol. 19th March 2011
"A note to tell you how much we enjoyed our stay. We used the Stackpole Inn a lot in the evenings and the owners and staff couldn't have been friendlier- perhaps winning at rugby helped too! The cottage was great and it was the perfect long weekend for us, helped by some very lovely weather. We loved it- I'm sure we'll be back ."
Julie Mortimer, Cambridge. 10th March 2011
"We had an absolutely fantastic time this week at Stackpole. We found it to be extremely relaxing and the boys spent most of their time playing in the woods on their bikes. Idyllic location for a perfect holiday - cannot recommend it highly enough."
