Glamorgan heritage coast runs for 14miles between Aberthaw and Portcrawl. Glamorgen heritage coast has some beautiful low cliffs and dramatic coastal scenery. It has remarkable extensive sand dune areas in the west, including some of the largest dunes in all of Europe at Merthyr Mawr Warren. Along the coast there are a variety of walks for all abilities.
Porthcawl is a brilliant base for South-Wales family seaside holidays with its blue flag beach at Trecco and great surfing at Rest Bay. In this area there is Kenfig National Nature reserve, a haven for migrating birds and wildlife. Aberthaw is a village which is split into two halves - East and West Aberthaw, divided by the River Thaw.
