The Inverness area of the Scottish is a beautiful region with landscapes ranging from mountains and glens to large lochs and rivers. The most famous of these is Inverness Castle, which has only been there in its present state for just two hundred years, as the last original stone structure was blown up by the Jacobites in 1746.
There area also various other historical sites in the area, one of which being the famous Battle of Culloden Battlefield, the site of the last stand of the Jacobites against the Duke of Cumberland, who was loyal to the British government. There are plenty of places to eat and drink in the city, and there is a buzzing night life to boot. Truly a City of variety, there is something for everyone here.
