Killarney National Park is located South-West of the town of Killarney in County Kerry, Ireland. The area is made up of rugged, mountainous countryside with McGillycuddy's Reeks, the highest mountain range in Ireland. The unique combination of mountains, lakes, woods and waterfalls gives the area distinctive scenery. A major visitor attraction in the park is Muckross House and Gardens, a 19th century mansion featuring many furnishings and artefacts of this period. There are many different species of flora and fauna and wildlife within the park that have national and international significance. To explore the park there are many trails where you can cycle or walk but a traditional way that is available is by a jaunting car. The Lakes of Killarney National Park are Lough Leane (the lower lake), Muckross Lake (the middle lake), and the Upper Lake. There are boat trips on the lower lakes and the lakes are ideal for fishing.
