Rothesay is the principal town on the Isle of Bute on the Firth of Clyde. It can be reached via a 35 minute ferry crossing from Wemyss Bay. This Victorian town is the site of the ruined Rothesay castle dating back to the 13th century. It is one of the best surviving medieval castles in Scotland and has a highly unusual circular design. Both the castle and gardens are open to the public.
