Glenveagh National Park is located in the centre of the Derryveagh Mountains in the north-west of Co. Donegal, Ireland. Glenveagh National Park is 24km north-west of the largest town in Donegal, Letterkenny and can be reached via the villages of Kilmacrennan or Churchill. It is the largest National Park in Ireland, and within the park there is a visitor centre, Glenveagh castle and gardens. Glenveagh National Park is made up of the former Glenveagh estate, the Quartzite hills and the Pentlands of Loughbarra bog, Meenachullion and Crockastroller. The remoteness of the national park adds to its atmosphere. The vast wilderness is filled with many different varieties of wildlife such as a heard of red deer and golden eagles, which were formerly extinct in Ireland, but reintroduced into the park in 2000.. The view point trail in the park is a 2km relatively steep trail which gives amazing views of the castle and all over the glen.
