Lower Austria known as 'the cradle of Austria's history,' is the largest of the nine states that make up the country. Although the province is located to the North East of Austria, it's named Lower Austria because it sits lower on the Danube, which flows through it from west to east.
Lower Austria is also home to more than a dozen spa resorts, including the most popular Baden. The area has a unique variety of nature and culture. The forests, rivers, mountains and even swamps are ideal for active sports such as hiking, cycling and golf. The area can be explored and appreciated all year round.
