The Mourn Mountains are an area if Ireland, located in County Down, south east Northern Ireland.
This mountain range is one of the most famous in Ireland and has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty since it was designated as the first National Park in Northern Ireland. The Mournes are visited by many tourists, hillwalkers, cyclists and rock climbers, because of the spectacular mountains and cliffs. The range is also home to birds, including the common Raven, Peregrine Falcon, Wren, and Buzzard, which makes it an excellent choice of destination for bird watchers. The mountain range is surrounded on all sides by villages and towns and crossed by one road, but still retains an air of peaceful tranquillity. The area is only an hour’s drive from the city of Belfast, which makes it an ideal holiday destination for those looking for a varied holiday.
