Shropshire, also known as Salop, is a county in the West Midlands region of England. It borders Wales to the west. There are a wide range of places to stay and things to do in Shropshire, including the Ironbridge Gorge area has become known as the 'Birthplace of Industry'. Much of the landscape is breathtaking, with the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty covering about a quarter of the county. The Wrekin is one of the most famous hills, though the highest hills are the Clee Hills, Stiperstones and the Long Mynd, near Church Stretton.
