This is a great Loch for walking, sailing or taking a gentle cruise aboard the steamship the Sir Walter Scott. There is a good path that runs for miles down the side of the Loch and you can either take your own bike or hire from Katrinewheelz cycle and buggy hire. This is located next to the boat Jetty. There is also a very good bistro and bar, The Anchors Rest at the Lochside.
You can either make a full return journey on the steamship or, on certain dates take a single journey out or back on the boat and cycle the other leg of the journey on a hired or your own cycle. The single leg cycle ride is about 10 miles and you would need to be fairly fit to do this though a lot of the ride is fairly flat.
There is also another boat, the Ellen's Isle which operates all year round.
