One of Scotland's best Castles that rivals Edinburgh Castle for its position, architecture and historical importance. Situated on top of a volcanic crag it has an imposing position looking out over Stirling, the large and flat expanse of the Carse, the Trossachs and the Ochil Hills. From here you can view historic battlefields including Stirling Bridge where William Wallace defeated the English in 1297 and Bannockburn where Robert The Bruce also defeated the English in 1314. The Wallace Monument is also situated alongside the Castle on another adjacent crag.
