The county of Moray is located in the North East of Scotland with a coastline on the Moray Firth. The region borders the Highlands and Aberdeenshire. It is home to the famous Glenfiddich Distillery in Dufftown, with the largest concentration of Whisky Distilleries than anywhere else in Scotland. Moray is the ancestral home of the distilling industry and the unique Malt Whisky Trail links several of the area’s leading distilleries attracting visitors, every year, from all over the world and in their thousands, to gain insight in to the production of Scotland’s national drink.
  
The area is steeped in history with sites such as the ruins at Elgin Cathedral. There are many local museums and sources to research ancestral history. As well as historic sites Moray has much to offer nature lovers. Wildlife sitings include osprey, capercaillie, red squirrel and for those lucky enough, the majestic golden eagle.
The Moray Firth coastline with many small and picturesque former fishing villages and is home to rare bottlenose dolphins which can often be seen from the shore. As well as coastal walking there are miles of quiet country roads, footpaths and cycleways, including purpose built trails for mountain bike enthusiasts. The Speyside Way is the popular long distance footpath in the area.
