Forest House is located in the market town of Coleford and has recently been converted from a 4* Hotel into a self-catering holiday home perfect for large groups of holidaymakers.  Whether you are a family group gathering for a celebration, a group of old friends, or a hen party, the property is the perfect base from which to explore the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley.

The accommodation is set over 3 floors and generously sleeps 24 in 11 ensuite bedrooms.  Two of the rooms on the ground floor are connected and share an ensuite/disabled loo, perfect for one family to occupy, or maybe guests who can't manage the stairs, two cots can be provided.  Also on the ground floor of the house you have a few communal areas including a bar and games lounge, a well-proportioned dining room which can seat all guests, and the hotel's original chefs kitchen which is well equipped to cater for large sit down meals.  The gardens are small but beautifully maintained.  There is a furnished patio area to the rear of the property just perfect for barbeques, and a luxurious hot tub to relax in at the end of a long day.

The great thing about Forest House is it's location.  With so much to see and do in the area it makes a great spot for holidays whether you choose to go out and about, or stay indoors making use of the wonderful facilities.  Being in the centre of a small town offers you the convenience of having numerous shops to stock up on your essential groceries just a few minutes walk from your front door.  There are numerous cafe's, pubs and all your usual takeaways, and there's even a small two screen cinema.  Yet you really are at the heart of the Forest of Dean and within just five minutes you can access the scenic trails and cycle paths which run through the forest.  It's a nature lovers paradise whether you like to explore on foot, bring your own bikes (there are places nearby to hire them for a day if you prefer), or canoe your way down river, breath-taking scenery awaits.  

The local area has a plethora of attractions, local landmarks, and outdoor activities centres nearby, all well worth a visit for days out.  The enchanting woods at Puzzlewood (a well used location by film and tv crews including Star Wars, Harry Potter, Merlin and many more), the spectacular natural cave system at Clearwell Caves, and the unique railway through beautiful woodland at  Perrygrove are all just a short 10 minute drive from Forest House.  If you want a more action-packed, adventure-filled holiday there are plenty of places to indulge in outdoor pursuits such as quad biking, paintballing, clay pigeon shooting, kayaking and paddle-boarding. GoApe for grown ups and juniors are located nearby at Beechenhurst and Mallards Pike. Beechenhurst Lodge is also home to a 4 mile sculpture trail (just pick up a map at the information centre and go in search of the sculptures, they have all been inspired by the forest trees, wildlife and industrial heritage), a children's play area, climbing tower and archery, plenty of outdoor space for BBQs, and a café serving a good range of hot and cold food.  With something for everyone it's a very popular spot for family days out.
