Nestled in the buttresses of the Lomond Hills, Falkland is a gorgeous small town in Fife which became the setting for the Inverness scenes in Outlander. To have filmed the series in Inverness would have been difficult due to its many modern buildings. For this reason, Falkland substituted for 1940’s Inverness during filming. The older looking style of the shops and houses lent themselves perfectly to creating an authentic experience of Inverness in the 40’s, and for those looking to recreated the feel of this part of the show, look no further than Falkland.
