The Westman Islands are a small group of 15-18 islands located off the south coast of Iceland. Most of the islands have steep sea cliffs, and are well vegetated. The islands have impressive natural beauty, abundant of birdlife, and an eventful history. That Westman Islands have the largest puffin colony in the world. Only the largest island, Heimaey, is inhabited though several of the outer islands each have a small cabin that is used over the summer during bird hunting season. For golfers there is an 18hole championship golf course which is considered to be one of the 200 best in Europe. The islands have many hiking trail for visitors to explore the landscape and view the wildlife.
