The tourist region of Šumava is extensive, around 120 km long wooded mountain range also know as the Bohemian forest. The area was classed a National Park in 1993. The mountains and hills of Šumava, along with low population density create ideal conditions for summer and winter activities. Throughout the mountains and hills there are many well marked hiking trails to explore in the summer months. In the winter months the Šumavamountain resorts offer excellent conditions for winter sports such as skiing.
